Yunus Addresses Global Social Change Makers in Australia
DHAKA, March 22 (NsNewsWire) — Nobel Laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus, in Melbourne addressed the ‘Nexus Australia Conference’. Nexus is a global movement of more than 2500 young (aged 20 – 40 years) philanthropists, investors and social entrepreneurs from over 80 countries collaborating to fast-track social change. Professor Yunus addressed a packed room of 200 social entrepreneurs and changemakers calling them out to take the future in their own hands to solve the problems in their communities, countries and the world through social business.
Earlier a large public event with over 300 hundred attendees was organized by Monash University Sustainable Development Institute (MSDI). The Vice Chancellor of Monash University Professor Margaret Gardner thanked Professor Yunus for his contributions over the last four decades in uplifting millions out of Poverty. Professor Yunus delivered his keynote address and was also interviewed on stage by Professor John Thwaites, the Chairman of MSDI.
Nobel Laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus a meeting with Linda Dessau AC, the Governor of Victoria. Linda is the first female governor of the state. She lauded Professor Yunus on his lifelong work. Yunus briefed her on the work if social business around the world. The Governor wanted to know how this concept can applied in Australian context.
Professor Yunus also gave a special address at consulting firm Bendelta’s event titled ‘The power of potential’. Bendelta organized this event in honor of Professor Yunus to promote his vision of zero poverty, unemployment and net carbon emission. Prof Yunus enthralled audience which included representatives from corporate, government and social sector with his incredible ability to turn established paradigms upside down and use flipped thinking to change the way we look at the world. Prof Yunus also conveyed a highly relevant message for 21st century business – how we design businesses solely to solve human problems.press release
