Yunnan Government Adviser meets Bangladesh State Minister for Foreign Affairs
DHAKA, May 17 (NsNewsWire) — Zhong Mian, Senior Adviser (Ministerial level) of Yunnan Government of China and Deputy Secretary of the Communist Party of China – Yunnan Province, has held a meeting with State Minister for Foreign Affairs Md. Shahriar Alam MP at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Leading a delegation of 6 members, Zhong Mian is currently visiting Dhaka in an aim to promote the 4th South Asian Expo to be held in Kunming, the capital of Yunnan Province from 12-17 June of this year. He is in Bangladesh for 3 days and will be leaving tomorrow morning.
During the meeting held on Monday the State Minister observed that Dhaka has close ties with Beijing in all areas of bilateral and economic cooperation. The State Minister noted that at the economic level, Yunnan is also deeply engaged with Bangladesh. He urged the visiting Adviser to create opportunities for Bangladesh business sector to explore the full potential of cooperation particularly with the provinces of China which are geographically closer to Bangladesh.
Shahriar Alam requested the Senior Adviser of Yunnan Government of China to encourage the investors of his province to invest in the special economic zone designated for Chinese investors. In response the Senior Adviser assured him of conveying that message to the potential investors.
Inviting the State Minister to the Expo, Senior Adviser Zhong Mian noted that his government had arranged some free and preferential stall for Bangladeshi business entities and this kind of participation would expand the trade and business relationship between the two countries. The two sides discussed about the economic potential of the proposed BCIM Economic Corridor.
Close cooperation between Chittagong city and Kunming City, and enhancing direct communication between these two regions were also discussed in the meeting
