Xinhua launches social network accounts in Spanish
MEXICO CITY, Aug. 2 (Xinhua) — China’s Xinhua News Agency officially launched its Spanish accounts on social networks Twitter, Facebook and Youtube here Saturday.
The launch ceremony took place in Xinhua’s Latin American regional headquarters in the Mexican capital and was attended by China’s Ambassador to Mexico, Qiu Xiaoqi, and the Director-General of International Media at the President’s Office, Carla Sanchez Armas, among other special guests who all congratulated the agency, reports Xinhua.
Xinhua’s Director-General for Latin America’s Regional Office, Wang Jinye, said that China is strengthening its cooperation with Latin American countries and with the formal launch of its social network accounts in Spanish, Xinhua is providing Spanish-speaking countries with an unprecedented opportunity to learn more about China, Latin America and the world.
“We will also promote understanding and friendship between the Chinese and Latin American populations,” Wang said.
Ambassador Qiu said that social networks are a new form of media and a means to reach large international audiences. Along with the development of cultural exchanges between China and Latin America, Xinhua’s social network accounts in Spanish will serve as an important bridge between the countries and boost bilateral ties.
