Woman, 19, dies at Melbourne CBD youth party clash
SYDNEY, July 21 (Xinhua) — Australian police are investigating the death of a 19-year-old woman in Melbourne on Saturday morning, with reports of two youth groups clashing at a chaotic short-stay apartment party site.
Homicide squad detectives are investigating the woman’s death, “deemed suspicious,” after officers were alerted to the CBD site, where paramedics failed to revive the victim from serious injuries, according to a police statement.
The incident occurred during a party at the EQ Tower short-stay rental apartment block, where two groups of young people became involved in a fight, local media quoted police as saying.
One group of youths subsequently “fled the building,” leaving a “fairly chaotic scene,” the ABC news channel quoted state police North West Metro region commander Tim Hansen as saying, with at least 12 people assisting police with inquiries. Enditem
