WIETC signs contract for the construction of Bangladesh BRT project

BEIJING, Oct. 12 (Xinhua) — Weihai International Economic & Technical Cooperative Co., Ltd. (WIETC) signed a contract with the Bangladesh government in the capital Dhaka for the construction of part of the BRT project.

The contract is worth 20 million U.S dollars. The project is invested by the Asian Development Bank and has a construction period of 18 months. The project on completion will greatly improve travel and living conditions for local residents by easing traffic pressure and upgrading surrounding facilities.

The contract also stipulates construction, extension and restoration of over 100 branch roads along the main route, and this upgrade includes drainage, lighting and other facilities. New marketplaces will also be built for the convenience of residents. (Edited by Ma Xin, maxin11@xinhua.org)
