BEIJING, April 7 (Xinhua) — The following are a selection of shows in Beijing for the coming week:
Un Ballo in Maschera
Date: April 10-14
Time: 7 p.m.
Place: National Center for the Performing Arts (NCPA)
Introduction:
Produced by the NCPA and directed by renowned director Hugo De Ana, the opera recreates scenes from the Swedish court and the city of Stockholm during the reign of King Gustav III in the 18th century. It tells the tragic story of a king who falls in love with his friend’s wife and is killed. The performance will star famous singers from China and abroad.
The Cleveland Orchestra
Date: April 12-13
Time: 7:30 p.m.
Place: NCPA
Introduction:
The Cleveland Orchestra, one of the most sought-after musical ensembles in the world, will play the works of Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, Richard Strauss and Sergei Prokofiev at the NCPA concert. The performance will be directed by Austrian conductor Franz Welser-Most.
Xiaojing Hutong
Date: April 11-14
Time: 7:30 p.m.
Place: NCPA
Introduction:
The drama tells the stories of Beijingers living in a hutong (Beijing’s traditional alley) named “Xiaojing” from the late 1940s to the 1970s. Directed by famous Chinese actor Yang Lixin, the play recreates the daily language and social customs of old Beijing.
History Museum of Once Love
Date: March 29-April 28
Time: 10 a.m.-10 p.m.
Place: 798 Art Zone
Introduction:
The exhibition, dedicated to failed love relationships, displays hundreds of personal objects left over by former lovers. It was launched for the first time in China in last November.
