Visit of Indian Navy Chief to Bangladesh

DHAKA, June 24 (NsNewsWire) — Chairman, Chiefs of Staff Committee and Chief of the Naval Staff, Indian Navy, Admiral Sunil Lanba, PVSM, AVSM, ADC will arrive in Dhaka on 24 June 2018 on an invitation from the Chief of Naval Staff Bangladesh Navy, Admiral Nizamuddin Ahmed, (TAS), OSP, ndc, psc. The Chief will be accompanied by his spouse, Mrs Reena Lanba and a three member delegation.

 

The Chief of Naval Staff had earlier visited Bangladesh in November 2017 to attend the ‘IONS Multilateral Maritime Search and Rescue Exercise’ (IMMSAREX), organised by the Bangladesh Navy under aegis of the Indian Ocean Naval Symposium.

The Chief is scheduled to pay courtesy calls on the Honorable President and Prime Minister of Bangladesh and meet the senior military leadership. The Naval Chief will also address student officers at the National Defence College, Mirpur and visit various Naval establishments.

The visit of the Indian Navy Chief is likely to further strengthen the close and fraternal ties existing between the Armed Forces of the two countries. During the visit, the Chiefs of the two Navies will jointly inaugurate the Coordinated Patrol (CORPAT) at Chittagong. The CORPAT will be conducted by the Navies of both the countries for the first time. Press Release
