UNITED STATES SUPPORTS EXPANSION OF BIPSOT FACILITIES

DHAKA, Dec. 5 (nsnewswire) — The U.S. Embassy Dhaka is pleased to announce that the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and Armed Forces Division have broken ground on a project to enhance facilities at the Bangladesh Institute of Peace Support Operation Training (BIPSOT). U.S. Ambassador to Bangladesh Dan Mozena, the US Army Corps of Engineers Commander for the Pacific Ocean Division, Brigadier General Richard D. Stevens, and Bangladesh Army Chief of General Staff, Lt Gen Md Mainul Islam, awc, psc led the ground breaking ceremony at BIPSOT on December 5, 2013. The project supports the construction of a new multi-purpose training facility, which will accommodate 750 students, and the extension of a fourth floor to the Academic Building. These two projects represent a $5 million investment by the people of the United States in Bangladesh’s leadership role in keeping global peace. Ambassador Mozena, during the ceremony said “I believe that the world today is safer, more secure, more stable thanks to Bangladesh and its great contributions to global peacekeeping.
