Telenor launches TV service in Hungary
Operator group Telenor has launched its own TV service in Hungary. The operator’s MyTV service offers live TV streaming as well as video on demand, and can be accessed on all internet connected devices.
The service will offer access to 14 channels at launch and the operator said it will add more channels in the near future. Subscribers will also have unlimited access to a library of premium Hollywood movies and TV series free of charge for the first three months. The operator is using OTT video technology provider UUX’s intelligent internet TV as a service (iTaaS) cloud-streaming platform for the service.
“We focus on a convenient, easy-to-use service offering high-quality content provided by our partners,” said Christopher Laska CEO of Telenor Hungary. “We will continuously improve the service and extend our TV and video offering based on customer feedback.”
According to UUX, the platform offers a unified user interface and enables the discovery, control and consumption of television content on connected devices.
Last month, Telenor teamed up with DNB, Norway’s largest bank, and identity management specialist Giesecke & Devrient (G&D) to introduce Norway’s first commercial NFC project.
In 3Q13, the operator group reported revenues of NOK26.0bn ($4.4bn), up one per cent year on year from NOK25.3bn in 3Q12. The firm reported net income of NOK3.9bn, up marginally year on year from NOK3.6bn in 3Q12. Source:telecoms.com
