5.       India is an important destination for higher education; it has more than 800 Universities and 38,000 colleges; is the second largest English speaking country in the world; and offers world class higher education with modern facilities. Studying in India has several advantages including  common culture, closer to home, common language, common food habits, best connectivity, affordability, to name a few. An approximation of educational outreach in India is: total universities– 800; engineering colleges– 5672; international schools– 687; diploma seats for technical studies – 1.2 million; undergraduate seats for technical studies-1.7 million; post-graduate seats for technical studies- 0.5 million.

6.       ‘Study in India’ is a new scheme initiated by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. Under this scheme, the Government of India is offering 19000 seats in the top 100 Universities of India [including National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), and Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) for 2500 courses]. There are about 9500+ fee waivers / scholarships under this scheme.

7.       The Government of India offers 200 scholarships to Bangladesh nationals under the ICCR programme. In 2018-19, over 3000 students applied for this scholarship, which is available at undergraduate, post-graduate and PhD levels. Although there is a lot of demand for seats in the engineering field, in recent years, emphasis has been placed on cultural scholarships in the fields of music, dance, art, literature, etc. In order to process applications in a time bound manner and to avoid wastage of precious time, for the first time, a user friendly portal namely ‘A2A scholarships’ was introduced by ICCR in 2018. Now, students can upload their details, choice for course, institution, passport details, medical certificate and all relevant documents from their homes. This enables the students to save their precious time, money and unnecessary paperwork.

8.       Events like the ‘India Educates Spot Admissions Expo’ (29-30 June 2018), ‘Study in India Expo’ (6-7 July 2018) and ‘India Education Fair’ (18-19 July 2018) will greatly facilitate the educational prospects of those seeking to study in India. The SAPE Events also guides students on careers they could choose through projects such as Dristhi – a psychometric test for choosing the correct career and Career Directory – a guide to choose the best institute and pursue relevant career options for oneself. Details are available in the web portal www.collegeofindia.org.

9.       I wish the 5th India Education Fair all success.” Press Release
