Rock Music by “Nagar Baul” Open For All at Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre
DHAKA, Dec. 26 (NsNewsWire) — Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre (IGCC) in association with Asian Paints, IRCON and Marico Bangladesh is organising An Evening of Rock Music by one of the most popular rock bands of Bangladesh, “Nagar Baul” led by Faruk Mahfuz Anam alias James at 6:30 PM on December 28, 2013 at IGCC, House No. 35, Road No. 24, Gulshan-1, Dhaka.
James is a highly acclaimed Bangladeshi music composer and the lead guitarist and singer of the renowned Bangladeshi band, Nagar Baul, formerly known as ‘Feelings’. Born in Naogaon and raised in Chittagong, James pursued his musical career in Dhaka. Stylishly long-haired, James is the pioneer of psychedelic rock in Bangladesh and possesses musical diversity that includes various genres of rock and blues music. His songs deal with society, nature, love, rage, discontent, frustration and happiness. He is also affectionately called “Guru” by his innumerable fans.
James commenced his musical career in Bollywood in 2005 with the song Bheegi Bheegi inspired from “Prithibi” by Moheener Ghoraguli in the movie Gangster. The song was a raging hit and remained at the top of Bollywood Hit List for more than a month. He then sang another popular song named “Chal Chalein” in a movie called “Woh Lamhe” in 2006. James has also sung highly popular songs such as “Rishtey” and “Alvida” in the Hindi movie called “Life in a Metro”. This year, he has sung a song titled “Bebasi” for “Warning 3D”, India’s first 3D underwater film.
James and his band Nagar Baul have extensively toured across the world including in North America and Europe for performances. He has also released several musical albums such as Tufan, Kaal Jomuna, Station Road, Jail Theke Bolchhi, Nogor Baul, Lais Fita Lais, Dushtu Chheler Dol, Anonna, Palabe Kothai, Dukkhini Dukkho Korona, Thik Achhe Bondhu, Ami Tomader E Lok, Jonota Express etc.
