Robi, allies eye to set Guinness World Record making biggest-ever flag for Bangladesh
DHAKA, Dec. 9 (nsnewswire) — Robi Axiata Limited in collaboration with Bangladesh Army will make world’s biggest-ever flag for Bangladesh in a bid to set Guinness World Record.
The country’s third largest cell phone company made the announcement of the creation of the world’s biggest Flag Bangladesh at a press briefing Monday in a city hotel. The flag will be shown in the National Parade Ground in Sher-E-Bangla Nagar on Independence Day which falls on March 26.
This incredible attempt will start on the morning of 16th December with nearly 30,000 volunteers who will help to create the flag.
Each person will hold up a coloured placard and the 30,000 people will collectively create the largest flag in world and shatter a standing Guinness World Record. The main objective of this event is not only to celebrate Victory Day this year but also show the world the inner strength and unity of the people of Bangladesh.
If the event is successful it will be recorded in the Guinness Book of World Records. Previously the largest human national flag was created in Pakistan, on 21 October 2012, with 24,200 participants attending the Punjab Youth Festival at the National Hockey Stadium in Lahore, Pakistan. The placards, held above their heads, collectively depicted the Pakistani national flag.
A Guinness-accredited auditor will be present to oversee the attempt. After successful completion of the event all relevant documents and images will be sent to the Guinness World Record committee for validation.
Speaking at the press conference, Robi Chief Financial Officer, Mahtab Uddin Ahmed, thanked Major General Chowdhury Hasan Sarwardy, Bir Bikram, ndc, psc, 9 Infantry Division and Area Commander, Savar Area, who was present at the press briefing as chief guest, and other officials of the Bangladesh Army for their all-out support in the initiative.
