Reuters’ ex-Bangladesh chief Anis Ahmed passes away
DHAKA, July 2 (NsNewsWire) — Veteran Journalist and Columnist Anis Ahmed, executive editor of Bangladesh’s leading English newspaper the Daily Observer, passed away at his residence in capital Dhaka on Monday morning, Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un (إِنَّا لِلّهِ وَإِنَّـا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعونَ).
Ahmed, former Bangladesh Bureau Chief of Reuters, breathed his last at about 8:15 a.m. (local time) Monday.
Ahmed, who started his journalism career with state–run news agency BSS, was 64.
He left behind his wife, a daughter, a son, a host of relatives and well-wishers to mourn his death.
His first namaz-e-janaza (funeral prayer) will be held at the National Press Club in Dhaka at around 1:30 p.m. Monday.
He will be laid to rest at the family burial ground at his village home in the country’s northeastern Brahmanbaria district.
