Poetry fest on jute held

DHAKA, March 5 (NsNewsWire) — The government has organized a poetry festival in
the capital on glory of golden fiber as part of its ongoing camping to make the
use of jute and jute products popular in home and abroad ahead of the National
Jute Day on March 6 .
A total of 50 renowned poets of the country including Nirmalendu Goon, Asad
Chowdhury, Nurul Huda, Asim Saha, Nasir Ahmed, Kazi Rozi, Jesmin Nahar
and Shamim Ara Smrity joined the festival where their poems on jute were
recited by Mahidul Islam and Rupa Chowdhury at the auditorium of National
Museum on Sunday night.
Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor was present as the chief guest
while State Minister for Textile and Jute Mirza Azam as the special guest.
Noor urged all poets and cultural activists to step forward with their creative
works for making jute and jute products popular among the young
generation.
Azam said the present government has already able to revive the past glory of
golden fiber. “Now, we are working on exploring international market
especially with various diversified jute products,” he added.
The government has chalked out weeklong programme including rally, road
show, art camp, poetry festival, water rally, seminar and symposiums, started
from February 27 centering the National Jute Day.
