Pakistani forces rescue 4 kidnapped Iranian soldiers: army
ISLAMABAD, March 21 (Xinhua) — Pakistani security forces recovered four kidnapped Iranian soldiers from the border region in southwestern Balochistan province, the military said early Thursday.
The army’s media wing Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement that the security forces conducted a successful intelligence-based operation at Amori area in district Chaghai, Balochistan about 3-4 km from Pakistan-Afghan border.
“Terrorists of a proscribed organization were reported to have entered Pakistan from Afghanistan side along with abducted Iranian soldiers. After exchange of fire, four Iranian soldiers were recovered from a transitioning hideout,” the statement said.
The Iranian soldiers will be handed over to Iranian authorities, it added.
Iran said in October last year that 14 Iranian security personnel were kidnapped on the southeastern border with Pakistan. A militant group Jaish al-Adl operating in the border area reportedly claimed the abduction.
Pakistani security forces had safely recovered five of the kidnapped Iranian border guards in November last year. Enditem
