NGOs RECEIVE GRANTS UNDER AUSTRALIA’S DIRECT AID PROGRAM
DHAKA, Sept. 20 (NsNewsWire) — Five Bangladeshi NGOs involved in community development in Bangladesh have
received Australian Government grants under the Direct Aid Program (DAP) 2018 -19.
The Australian High Commissioner in Bangladesh Ms Julia Niblett presented BDT
17,775,362 (AUD 289, 971) to the NGOs in a ceremony at the Australian High
Commission, Dhaka.
Funding selected NGOs to support useful activities under the Australian Government’s
DAP program complements Australia’s bilateral development assistance,” said the
Australian High Commissioner Ms Julia Niblett.
The NGOs participating in the 2018-19 DAP round are, HYSAWA (Hygiene, Sanitation
and Water Supply), Good Neighbors Bangladesh (GNB), Bandhu Social Welfare Society
(Bandhu), Society for People’s Action in Change and Equity (SPACE) and YPSA (Young
Power in Social Action).
In 2016-17 Australia supported 863 DAP projects in 112 countries. Projects helped
people with disabilities, provided small-scale infrastructure, encouraged community
income generation and improved people’s health.”
