New Year wishes to Chinese people from leaders around the world
Beijing, Feb. 22 (NsNewsWire) — Leaders from around the world are extending their best New Year wishes to the Chinese people. British Prime Minister David Cameron hailed a golden year for bilateral ties, while Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered his first-ever Chinese New Year greeting via the internet.

British Prime Minister David Cameron sent his new year greetings to people celebrating around the world.
“As we celebrate new year, families will be coming together, often travelling thousands of miles to do so. The fireworks, the parades and the feasts will be spectacular. So wherever you are, let me wish you the very best health and happiness for this, the year of the sheep. (Switches to Chinese) Happy New Year,” Cameron said.
His video message also highlighted that the bilateral economic relationship is going from strength to strength.
A royal greeting came from Prince William ahead of his first visit to China.
In an online message, the Prince said China has a long and distinguished cultural heritage, and Britain enjoys a well-learned reputation for innovation.
“Da Jia Hao. I am very pleased to be visiting China soon. I will launch the Great Festival of Creativity which marks the start of a year of cultural exchange between our two countries. Warmest wishes to the Year of the Sheep. Zhu ni men chun jie kuai le, yang nian da ji,” Prince William said.
Meanwhile the Prince of Wales and his wife Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall joined in celebrations at London’s Chinatown on Thursday.
They unveiled a newly-built Chinese Exchange center, which was established to help facilitate the exchange of Eastern and Western culture.
“Happy New Year! (Switches to English) Trouble is, I cannot tell the sheep from the goat, so I have to hedge my bet. But can I just say how thrilled I am to be able to join you to celebrate the Chinese New Year,” said Prince Charles.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered his first Chinese New Year greeting via social network. He wished Chinese people a happy and prosperous Year of the Sheep.
In Bangkok’s Chinatown, the Thai Princess, Maha Chakri Sirindhorn sent her good wishes.
The festive atmosphere is more than ever this year, as Thailand marks 40 years of ties with China, and the 60th birthday of the Princess.
Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha, and former Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva also attended New Year celebrations there.
With around one-fifth of Thais being of Chinese origin, the festival has been well integrated into the country’s traditions.
