Muzib, Shipu new TRNB president, general secretary
DHAKA, April 1 (NsNewsWire) — Muzib Masud, special reporter of Daily Jugantor, and Mazharul Anwar Khan Shipu, Business & Economic Affairs in-charge at Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, were elected president and general secretary respectively of Telecom Reporters’ Network of Bangladesh or TRNB on Saturday for the 2019-2020 term (April 2019-March 2020).
The other office-bearers include Treasurer Md. Shamim Jahangir of the daily Sun, Organizing Secretary Shahid Bappy of daily amadershomoy and three Members — Hitlar A Halim of Banglatribuine, Mohammad Shamim of GTV and Faruque Hossain of Inqilab.
The new committee members were elected during the TRNB’s Annual General Meeting or AGM, which was held on Saturday night at a city hotel.
Chairman to the election committee, Elias Hossain, Dhaka Reporters’ Unity (DRU) president, announced the polls results. Kabir Ahmed Khan, general secretary of DRU, and Uttam Chakravarty, a senior journalist, performed as election commissioners.
Prior to the elections, in their addresses, the outgoing President Sajal Zahid Islam, senior reporter of The Daily Star, and General Secretary Samir Kumar Dey, senior correspondent of the daily Ittefaq, reported on the TRNB’s administration and governance, training courses, membership status and relevant activities with a highlight on flagship events, stakeholder relations and way forward.
