Multinational UN peacekeeping exercise underway in Bangladesh
DHAKA, March 10 (NsNewsWire) — Shanti Doot 4 (Ambassador of Peace 4), a multinational United Nations peacekeeping exercise, is currently underway in Bangladesh with some 1,300 participants from dozens of countries,reports Xinhua.
The exercise, which was launched on Feb. 26 and will last until March 12, is aimed at providing pre-deployment training to UN partner countries in preparation for real-world peacekeeping operations, Bangladeshi military said.
The opening ceremony for Exercise Shanti Doot was held on Feb. 26 at the Bangladesh Institute of Peace Support Operation Training (BIPSOT) at Rajendrapur Cantonment on the outskirts of capital Dhaka.
At the invitation of BIPSOT, local and foreign journalists observed the exercise Thursday.
Bangladesh previously hosted the exercise in 2002, 2008 and 2012. The exercise has been covering three broad aspects – Field Training Event (FTE), Staff Training Event (STE) and Critical Enabler Capability Enhancement (2CE).
About 1,300 participants from 32 countries, including China, are participating in the exercise, Major General Md Enayet Ullah told the media. Enditem
