Militants launch multiple attacks in eastern Afghanistan
KABUL, May 17 (Xinhua) — A group of armed militants penetrated into the office of Nangarhar provincial governor, a police station and a television building in Jalalabad city on Wednesday morning, triggering gun battles, Tolo television channel reported.
According to the TV channel, suicide bombers entered the building of the national television station in the city and gunshots have forced many local residents to leave the area.
However, spokesman for Nangarhar provincial governor Attaullah Khogiani told Xinhua that three suicide bombers entered the building of national television channel and two of them have already been killed in their blasts while the remaining one is fighting against security forces deployed around.
Security personnel have cordoned off the area and do not allow journalists to get access to the site of the incident.
