Malaysian PM’s Bangladesh visit to further enhance bilateral relations

DHAKA, Nov. 17 (nsnewswire) — Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak’s official three-day visit to Bangladesh beginning Sunday will further enhance relations between the two countries.

A Foreign Ministry statement said the visit will seek to broaden and deepen the existing cooperation between Kuala Lumpur and Dhaka as well as to provide an excellent opportunity for leaders of both countries to exchange views and achieve closer understanding on issues of mutual interest.

“The prime minister’s visit to Bangladesh underlines the importance which Malaysia attaches to its relationship with Bangladesh,” the statement said.

During the visit, Najib is scheduled to call on Bangladesh’s President Md Abdul Hamid and attend a bilateral meeting with his counterpart Sheikh Hasina to discuss and exchange views on regional and international issues of common interest to both countries.

Najib is also scheduled to be the Chief Guest for the inauguration ceremony of the Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Memorial Specialised Hospital and Nursing College.

“The hospital, which is named after the Bangladesh prime minister’s mother will be managed by KPJ Malaysia,” said the statement.

Najib will be accompanied by wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor and a delegation of 62 including Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Anifah Aman and senior officials from the Prime Minister’s Office and the Foreign Affairs Ministry.

Meanwhile, Rosmah is scheduled to visit the Dhaka Community Hospital.

The World Children Welfare Fund under the PERMATA childood eduction programme had donated RM103,000 last month to Mercy Malaysia for the ‘Cleft Lip and Palate Project’ at the hospital.  Source: Bernama
