Malaysia Airlines flight diverted back due to security incident
KUALA LUMPUR, May 31 (Xinhua) — A Malaysia Airlines flight from Melbourne to Kuala Lumpur flew back 20 minutes after it took off on Wednesday due to a “disruptive passenger,” the airline said in a statement.
The MH128 plane made a turn back to Melbourne after the captain was alerted by a cabin crew that a passenger was attempting to enter the cockpit, according to the statement.
It did not elaborate on what happened to the passenger, but said the plane safely landed at Melbourne Airport at 11:41 p.m. local time. The airplane was currently on the remote bay and waiting for security assistance to arrive.
The plane, an Airbus A330-323, departed from Melbourne Airport at 11:11 p.m. local time and was to arrive Kuala Lumpur at 5:28 a.m. Thursday local time.
