JABBARER BOLI KHELA AND BOISHAKHI MELA IN COOPERATION WITH GRAMEENPHONE STARTS TOMORROW
DHAKA, April 24 (NsNewsWire) — In line with previous years, Jabbarer Boli Khela and Boishakhi mela will kick off in Chittagong tomorrow. The Late Abdul Jabbar Smriti Kusti Portijogita o Boishakhi Mela committee, in association with leading telecom service provider company Grameenphone, is arranging the event this year.
Thousands of visitors and spectators will gather at the Boishakhi Mela, which will span from Bangladesh Bank Circle to Chittagong City Corporation and from Jail Road to Shaheed Minar. The fair, which extends to a perimeter of three kilometers surrounding Laldighir Moydan, is the largest in Chittagong. Small and medium entrepreneurs bring a range of utilities to the fair, while nagordola, circus and other activities bring added attraction to this highly anticipated event.
The Boli Khela, which traditionally is the main attraction of the entire initiative, is going to commence on April 25, or Boishakh 12 at Laldighir Moydan.
The tournament will be inaugurated by Md. Iqbal Bahar, PPM, Police Commissioner, Chittagong Metropolitan Police, Chittagong. Mr. AJM Nasir Uddin, Mayor, Chittagong City Corporation will chair as Chief Guest and Head of Grameenphone’s Chittagong Circle Mr. M Shaon Azad will be the Special Guest at the inauguration ceremony of the boli competition.
This year, around 200 bolies or wrestlers will participate in Jobbarer Boli Khela. Thousands of people from around the country will attend the historic tournament and the accompanying Boishakhi Fair.
All this was announced at a press conference organised at the Chittagong Press Club. President of Late Abdul Jabbar Smriti Kusti Portijogita o Boishakhi Mela committee Mr. Johorlal Hazeri, General Secretary Mr. Shawkat Anwar Badal, Grameenphone’s Chittagong Circle Mr. M Shaon Azad and Grameenphone Head of External Communications Mr. Sayed Talat Kamal, among others, were present at the press conference.

Distinguished businessman and social activist Abdul Jabbar founded Jobbarer Boli Khela event in 1909 with a vision to unite the youth and inspire them to take a stand against the then British Colonial Rule. Since the first year, the event has gained widespread popularity all over Chittagong, which is prevalent even today.
