High Commissioner of India to Bangladesh, Mr. Harsh Vardhan Shringla visit to Ramgarh, Khagrachari District, Bangladesh

DHAKA, Jan. 3 (NsNewsWire) — High Commissioner of India to Bangladesh, Mr. Harsh Vardhan Shringla along with the Minister of Road Transport and Bridges of Bangladesh, H.E. Mr. Obaidul Quader visited Ramgarh, Khagrachari district, Bangladesh to inspect the progress of work of constructing the bridge over Feni river.

The proposed bridge over Feni river is being funded by Government of India under grant assistance to Bangladesh and is being constructed by the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Authority of India (NHIDCL). The bridge, once completed, will provide direct road connectivity between South Tripura and Chittagong through Sabroom (India) – Ramgarh (Bangladesh) link, and will further promote trade, tourism and people-to-people ties between Tripura and Bangladesh and benefit the entire region.

 Test piling work on the Indian side has already commenced and the same is expected to commence on the Bangladesh side shortly. The bridge is expected to be completed by April 2020.

 A delegation led by Secretary, Public Works Department (PWD), Government of Tripura, Mr. Shantanu and comprising senior officials from the NHIDCL and PWD Department, Government of Tripura also visited the site of the Feni bridge along with the Hon’ble Minister and the High Commissioner. Mr. Shantanu mentioned about the Bharat-Bangla Maitree Udyan – a memorial to the Liberation War of Bangladesh – which was inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Tripura, Mr. Manik Sarkar in Chhotakhola, Belonia, Tripura on December 16, 2017.
