Grand finale in Noosa for Day 91 of Queen’s Baton Relay
Gold Coast, March 27 (NsNewsWire) — The Queen’s Baton Relay (QBR) has arrived in south-east Queensland, with Noosa Main Beach hosting the grand finale for Day 91 of the Relay’s Australia-wide journey.
Running along the world-famous stretch of beach flanked by hundreds of supporters, Melbourne 2006 Triathlon gold medallists Brad Kahlefeldt and Emma Snowsill OAM set the pace for Ironwoman champion Jordan Mercer to carry the Queen’s Baton into a huge crowd at the community celebration at Noosa Surf Life Saving Club.
Snowsill, who is part of the commentary team for the GC2018 Triathlon events, said she was grateful for the enormous support shown to her and all of the other batonbearers in Noosa.
“This place [Noosa] has such a strong connection for me in terms of my career, this was a launching pad and what gave me everything,” she said.
“I feel very privileged to have the best of everything come together – Commonwealth Games, my hometown and to carry the Queen’s Baton here today.”
