GRAMEENPHONE-PROTHOM ALO I-GEN 2015 TO START IN DISTRICT LEVEL

DHAKA, June 2 (NsNewsWire)  — Grameenphone-Prothom Alo i-Gen is going to start its second stage of operations at District level from June 25, 2015.

This was disclosed in a press event Sunday.

Grameenphone CMO Allan Bonke, Motiur Rahman, Editor, Prothom Alo, Nehal Ahmed, Head of Marketing along with representatives of the other partners were present on the occasion.

The first stage of “Grameenphone-Prothom Alo i-Gen” initiative 2015 has been successfully completed. “Grameenphone-Prothom Alo i-Gen,” the biggest internet-based event in Bangladesh started countrywide from April 25, 2015.

More than 870,000 students from 2000 schools around the country took part in the first stage. In the second stage, 10,000 selected students from the first stage will compete with each other at the district level and proceed to the zonal round. The competition among the final 40 students from different zones will be showcased later in a reality show on Channel i and the last three teams will compete with each other for the title in a final gala event.

Commenting on the completion of the first stage, Allan Bonke, CMO of Grameenphone said, “This initiative is Grameenphone’s continued endeavor to empower the youth in Bangladesh with the biggest opportunity of today, the internet. We are determined to put an effort in building a completely digital generation as part of our ‘Internet for All’ ambition. I am confident that our ambition will get a real boost through this i-Gen initiative.”

The i-Gen initiative was first launched in the year 2011 with an aim to spread the light of internet to a new generation, which GP strongly believes has the capability to excel in life through its power. The initiative was continued till 2012, covering more than 1400 schools through 121 events.

On conclusion of the step-by-step competition, relevant prizes will be rewarded to the best team and to the most deserving school of the country such as such as education scholarships and opportunity to join relevant local & international educational tours for the students and setting up of Internet Lab at the winner school.

While Prothom-Alo is the organizing partner, the initiative is also being supported by the co-operation of Perfetti Van Melle with their brand Alpenliebe, Microsoft, Opera Mini, Ekhanei.Com, Rexona, Mutual Trust Bank, First Security Islami Bank, Woori Bank, Radio Foorti and Channel i.
