Grameenphone 3G launched in Rangpur
DHAKA, Dec. 30 (NsNewsWire) — Grameenphone launches 3G for its customers in Rangpur on commercial basis today (December 30) with colorful programs.
The inauguration program was held at Police Community hall with presence of senior government officials and local dignitaries. The guests were given live experience of different services of 3G. Farid Ahmed, Deputy Commissioner of Rangpur was the chief guest of the inaugural session. Mostofa Sohrab Chowdhury, President, Chamber of Commerce, Rangpur and Nasir Hossain, Cricketer, Bangladesh National Cricket Team were present among others on the occasion.
Following areas of Rangpur City and its outskirts are under 3G coverage now: Dhapbazar, Munshipara, Islampur, Radhaballav, Raja Rammohon Market, Cantonment, Darshana College Para, Zahaj Company mor, Senpara, Kamal kasna, Shapla Chattar, Railway, Modern mor, Chawkbazar, Satmatha, Terminal, Chartola mor, Lalbagh and Haragas.
From now on customers within the coverage areas will be able to use 3G packages of Grameenphone. There are four packages under 512 kbps speed tier, starting with 75mb Starter pack for BDT 50(+VAT). The 2GB standard monthly plan costs BDT 400 (+VAT). There is a Smart Plan for Smartphone users comprising unlimited data (Fair Usage policy after 1.5GB), Voice minutes, SMS and MMS at BDT 800 (+VAT) and for the heavy users’ unlimited monthly plan (Fair Usage policy after 8GB) at BDT 950 (+VAT).
In the 1 mbps tier there are three packages, starting with 2GB standard monthly plan at BDT 700 (+VAT). There is a Smart Plan for Smartphone users comprising unlimited data (Fair Usage policy after 1.5GB), Voice minutes, SMS and MMS at BDT 1100 (+VAT) and for the heavy users’ unlimited monthly plan (Fair Usage policy after 8GB) at BDT 1250 (+VAT).
A Video Call to other 3G enabled GP number will cost BDT 1.20/minute with 10 second pulse. Video calls to other operators will be possible in the future.
Grameenphone, the largest telecom operator in Bangladesh with over 45 million customers, has a strong legacy of providing mobile services to all parts of the country. The launch of commercial 3G-services follows the recent acquisition of 10 MHz spectrum in the 2100 MHz-band, which will enable the roll out of a nationwide network with enhanced capacity and instant mobile internet access for all customers.
