DHAKA, Nov. 5 (NsNewsWire) — Famous chefs arriving from different parts of China were in attendance to explain the wonders of Chinese cuisine to a large, receptive gathering in Dhaka‘s Pan Pacific Sonargaon hotel on Tuesday night where the sweet aroma of Chinese food filled the air, reports Xinhua.
Hordes of food lovers lined up around the cluster of food tents to get a taste of a wide array of fine Chinese food at the five-day Chinese food festival which kicked off Tuesday.
This year’s Chinese Food Festival 2015 is being hosted and organized by the Pan Pacific Sonargaon Dhaka in collaboration with China Radio International, Idachu Limited China and the Chinese embassy in Bangladesh.
The eventful festival is providing a five-day food-filled wonderland of Chinese cuisine and drinks. The deeply immersed Chinese culture has now firmly established itself within the diverse and vibrant city of Dhaka. And this is where the food culture plays a prominent role in this cultural exchange as Chinese cuisine has long been very popular in Bangladesh.
More than seven Chinese chefs arrived from different parts of China, each serving their finest dishes and beverages for the ultimate gastronomical feast.
In addition, these professional chefs with years of experience are providing live demonstrations to amuse and amaze at the festival at Café Bazar Restaurant.
Creative cooking workshops and traditional Chinese performances are also being held there.
Tuesday night’s inaugural ceremony saw scores of top dignitaries from the Bangladeshi government and Chinese embassy in Dhaka in attendance.
The 2015 Chinese Food Festival also aims at marking the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Bangladesh and China.
“The festival will remain a milestone in the history of Bangladesh-China relations,” said Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Ma Mingqiang.
For food lovers and food industry insiders, the festival, however, came as an opportunity to exchange ideas and draw in-depth key elements and intricacies regarding Chinese food culture.
“I have come not only to eat Chinese food but also to learn more about Chinese food,” said enthusiast Abdur Rahim who is planning to open a restaurant in Dhaka.
Officials say Chinese food’s diversity and evolution over the years has made a profound impact on Bangladesh’s people’s perception of food and daily eating habits.
Therefore, they say there is no doubt that the Chinese Food Festival 2015 will be one of the most significant celebrations of international cuisines this year. Enditem
