Citi holds Roundtable on Airlines Banking
DHAKA, Aug. 31 (NsNewsWire) — Citi Bangladesh organized a discussion at a local hotel recently titled “Roundtable on Banking Landscape of Bangladesh Aviation Industry: Trends, Challenges and the Way Forward”.
The discussion, focused on banking operations for the country’s Airline industry, saw senior management participation from majority of the large international air carriers present in Bangladesh. Senior officials from Bangladesh Bank and Civil Aviation Authority, Bangladesh (CAAB) also attended the event. Citi’s Head of Corporate and Investment Banking Mr. Shams Zaman welcomed the guests and underlined Citi’s commitment to promoting such industry development initiatives.
The event was organized with a view to discussing the contemporary issues related to aviation industry’s banking processes, and allowing all stakeholders to express their opinions. Separate sessions were conducted by Citibankers on Global Industry Trends, Economic Outlooks, and Operational Issues pertinent to the banking landscape of Bangladesh. Mr. Moinul Huq, Citi’s Head of Treasury and trade Solutions, elaborated on this sector’s challenges and opportunities from a global perspective. The sessions were followed by an open discussion, which experienced vibrant interaction among the attendees. Representation from the Banking Regulator and Aviation Authority was key in ensuring a direct exchange of information and ideas.
After the discussion, the attendees agreed on taking several initiatives which will likely impact all stakeholders of the industry positively. Mr. Md. Abu Taher, General Manager, Foreign Exchange Operation Department of Bangladesh Bank stated “We always encourage market participants to come up with constructive suggestions, and assure you of our full cooperation on genuine areas of improvement for the aviation industry”.
