DHAKA, Dec. 25 (NsNewsWire) — Bangladesh’s Christian community like those across the world is all set to celebrate Christmas (today) Thursday.
Tens of thousands of people have already left Dhaka for their village homes to celebrate the festival with their near and dear ones.
Christmas or Christmas Day is an annual festival commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ, observed most commonly on December 25] as a religious and cultural celebration among billions of people around the world.
The celebrations of the biggest religious festival start on Christmas Eve with singing of carols in public places such as lobbies, restaurants and lounges.
The festivities also include decoration of Christmas trees with colourful lights and ornaments, distribution of gifts by Santa Claus to children, family gatherings, feasts and special church prayers.
Bangladeshi President Abdul Hamid, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, ex-Prime Minister Khaleda Zia in separate messages greeted people of the Christian community on the occasion.
