Chinese embassy marks anniversary of PLA founding in Bangladesh
DHAKA, July 26 (NsNewsWire ) — China has undergone “significant military reforms” to bolster its armed forces, a high-ranking officer of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) said on Wednesday, reports Xinhua.
More than 230 guests including high-ranking officers and officials from Bangladesh as well as diplomats, military attaches and scholars attended a reception hosted by the Chinese embassy to celebrate the 91st anniversary of the founding of the PLA which falls on Aug. 1.
In his speech, Chinese military attache in Bangladesh, Senior Colonel Liu Fangjian, said China remained firm in pursuing an independent foreign policy of peace and a national defense policy that was defensive in nature.
“China is now the largest contributor of peacekeepers among the five permanent members of the UN Security Council, and the second largest contributor to the UN peacekeeping budget,” he said.
Liu also highlighted the steady and rapid progress in China-Bangladesh military cooperation in recent years, with “frequent high-level visits, continuously deepening pragmatic cooperation and fruitful cooperation in personnel training.” Enditem
