Buddhists celebrate Buddha Purnima
DHAKA, May 3 (NsNewsWire) –Buddhist community in Bangladesh capital Dhaka and elsewhere in the country is celebrating Buddha Purnima, one of their major festivals, Sunday with traditional enthusiasm and solemn devotion.
Vesak (Buddha Purnima, Buddha Jayanti) is a Buddhist festival that marks Gautama Buddha’s birth, enlightenment and death. It falls on the day of the full moon in May and it is a gazetted holiday in Bangladesh.
The purnima is being celebrated in all monasteries and other religious organizations through a daylong programme.
