BRAC announces 1 lakh blanket contribution to help the cold-affected people

DHAKA, Dec. 7 (NsNewsWire) — BRAC has announced that it will distribute one lakh blankets to the poor people who suffer the most during winter. To increase this number further, BRAC and Aarong are launching a national campaign called “Ektu Ushnotar Jonno” to collect cash and warm clothes contribution and distribute among people. Every year, Bangladesh is hit by cold waves that cause many, particularly the poor, to suffer. More than 80 people died last winter from harsh cold related causes.
“Every year we donate blankets for the poor. This year, however, we are making a bigger commitment and are also asking all citizens to join the effort to have a bigger impact in reducing the suffering of the distressed”, said Sir Fazle Hasan Abed, KCMG, Chairperson, BRAC.
The cash donation can be made via bKash or bank transfer and the clothing donation can be done via the Aarong outlets. To make the donation, via bKash the ‘payment’ option needs to be selected and the amount can be sent to 01730321765. A donation can also be made through a bKash agent to the same number. Additionally, there is an option to donate directly to the BRAC Bank account number: 1501202316474001.
Aarong will collect winter shawls, sweaters and blankets through its various outlets in the country, which will then be distributed by BRAC’s regional offices.
