BNP deputy chief summoned for calling Bangladesh founding president ‘Pakbandhu’
DHAKA, Nov. 17 (NsNewsWire) — A Dhaka court Monday summoned Tarique Rahman, deputy chief of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), in connection with a case filed against him on charge of calling the country’s founding President Sheikh Mujibur Rahman a “Pakbandhu (Friend of Pakistan)”.
Metropolitan Magistrate Judge Rezaul Karim asked Tarique Rahman, also son of ex-Prime Minister Khaleda Zia, to appear before the court on Dec. 10.
At a discussion meeting in East London in September this year he reportedly termed Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman a “Pakbandhu”.
