BDApps hosts Innovation Hackathon

 

DHAKA, July 26 (NsNewsWire) —  BDApps, the biggest mobile application platform of the country has recently hosted its signature event, Innovation Hackathon. The 24 hour-long grueling hackathon took place at Robi Corporate Office. In total, 41 individuals took part in the final hackathon event in 14 teams.

DigitalMCQ team from Ahsanullah University of Science & Technology were crowned as the champion of the hackathon. Brotherhood team from the International Islamic University Chittagong was the first runner-up and the fSociety team from BRAC University secured the second runner-up position.

The winners were given cash prizes to support their application’s promotion. BDApps will train and support the winners and all the participants to popularize and commercialize their apps. BDApps will also provide the winners a platform to present to different stakeholders with a view to help them grow as digital entrepreneurs.

Dr. Kashfia Ahmed, Renowned Agriculturist, CEO-Win Corporate, Chairman-Win Miaki, Dr. Helal Uddin Ahmed, Associate Professor, National Institute of Mental Health, Kazi Hassan Robin, Associate Professor and Program Head of CSE, World University of Bangladesh, and Tasmima Hossain, Acting Editor-The Daily Ittefaq & Editor-Anannya were part of the innovation hackathon as the industry expert judges.

In addition, Mohannad Alam Khan, General Manager, Finance and Strategy, Faisal Ahmed, General Manager, OTT ecosystem and Md. Sanjid Hossain, General Manager, Digital Advertising were present as business expert judges from Digital Services Division of Robi Axiata Ltd.

The participants had to solve problems around four major areas: Agriculture, Health, Education and Lifestyle in the 24 hour-long hackathon. The contestants have integrated telecom subscriber’s features, re-organized their initial scope for making the app more user-friendly, uploaded their apps in AppStore and presented their final results in front of the jury board.

Robi’s Chief Digital Services Officer, Shihab Ahmad announced the winners and distributed cash prizes among them at the closing ceremony. Speaking on the occasion, he said “With support from the enthusiastic young app developers of the country, BDApps has already become the biggest app platform of the country. BDApps has earned their trust as their preferred apps platform to pursue their dreams of becoming digital entrepreneurs. BDApps will continue to work extensively to accelerate the development of local application development ecosystem to offer innovative solutions to the mobile phone subscribers”.  Robi’s Vice President, IoT and Product Innovation, Md. Showkat Kader Chowdhury had earlier inaugurated the innovation hackathon.

Robi’s Vice President, M-Money, Dewan Nazmul Hasan, General Manager, IoT and Product Innovation, Mohammad Musabbir and Manager, IoT and Product Innovation, Md. Salah Uddin were also present at the prize giving ceremony of the event.

Along with Robi Axiata Ltd. hSenid Mobile Solution (Pvt) Ltd of Sri Lanka was the technical partner and Miaki Media Ltd of Bangladesh was the event partner of this hackathon.

Initially, 659 app developers in 228 teams was keen to take part in the hackathon. Later on, on the basis of innovative concept, app readiness, customer friendliness, business potential, and infrastructure availability, 14 team have been selected for final Hackathon event.

BDApps is the biggest mobile application platform of Bangladesh. Application developers can host their innovative applications in this platform and can sell it to the local mobile subscribers. This is creating a strong bridge between Bangladeshi app developers and mobile subscribers. press release
