Bangladesh’s operators add over 14 mln subscribers in first 3Qs of 2017
DHAKA, Nov. 20 (NsNewsWire) — The total number of Bangladesh’s mobile phone subscribers exceeded 140 million at the end of September 2017 with addition of over 14 million new users in the first 3Qs of this year, statistics of the country’s telecom regulator showed Sunday, reports Xinhua. With 1.41 million new addition in September, according to Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission ( BTRC) data, the number of subscribers in the country reached 140.713 million. The total number of mobile phone subscribers reached 139.302 million at the end of August. Bangladesh has now four mobile companies, three of whom including Grameenphone, Robi and Banglalink are foreign-backed cellphone operators. Following the recent merger of Robi and Airtel, the merged company in Bangladesh is now known as Robi Axiata Limited. The number of subscribers of the country’s four mobile operators at the end of September, 2017 stood at 63.882 million, 41.211 million, 32.379 million, and 3.241 million respectively, the BTRC data showed.
