Bangladesh’s July-October Exports Shrink
DHAKA, Nov. 11 (NsNewsWire) — Bangladesh’s July-October merchandise export earnings fell about 1 percent from that in the same period a year earlier, said an Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) official Tuesday.
According to the official, the country’s export income reached 9.652 billion U.S. dollars in the first four months of the current fiscal year 2014-15 (July 2014- June 2015) against 9.747 billion dollars in the same period of previous 2013-14 fiscal year.
He said knitwear garment export growth dipped 0.90 percent to 4, 058.42 million dollars while woven garments plunged 4.40 percent to 3,694.24 million dollars in July-October, comparing with the same period of last 2013-14 fiscal year (July 2013-June 2014).
October export income reached 2,119.20 million dollars, 321 million dollars lower than that in the same month a year ago, said the official who preferred to be unnamed.
EPB data showed Export earning during the first quarter of the fiscal grew a meager 0.88 percent year on year to 7. 70 billion dollars.
