Bangabandhu’s portrait installed at National Press Club
DHAKA, Aug. 16 (NsNewsWire) — A portrait of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman , Bangladesh’s founding father, has been installed at the National Press Club, the country’s most widely respected professional body for journalists.
Shortly after unveiling the portrait at the club premises on Saturday, Journalist leaders stood in silence for a minute.
Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury, media adviser to prime minister Sheikh Hasina, unveiled the portrait on the ground floor of the National Press Club on Aug. 15 morning, marking the National Mourning Day and recalling the contributions of Bangabandhu to building the club.
National Press Club President Shafiqur Rahman, Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalist faction President Manjurul Ahsan Bulbul, Dhaka Union of Journalists faction President Altaf Mahmud and a number of senior journalists , among others, were present on the occasion.
A prayer session was also held after the opening of the portrait.
Later, the journalist leaders placed wreaths at the Bangabandhu’s portrait.
On May 28 the new committee of the National Press Club in a meeting adopted the resolution to install a portrait of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman who donated the land for the club.
