DHAKA, Nov. 7 (Xinhua) — Chinese President Xi Jinping is leading China toward a larger role in international affairs, Bangladeshi political leaders have said.

Bangladeshi Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed said under the leadership of Xi, who last month was re-elected general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, China has achieved remarkable development and moved toward the global center stage.

The minister, who is also a senior leader of the ruling Awami League, added that Xi’s re-election demonstrates the trust people and the Chinese political leadership have in him, recognizing his commitment to people-oriented development.

Ahmed wished Xi greater accomplishments in his future endeavors, especially in implementing Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, which has been included in the CPC Constitution.

He expressed confidence that the Chinese leader will make new achievements in such undertakings as building a community of shared future for mankind.

Rashed Khan Menon, Bangladesh’s civil aviation and tourism minister, said Xi’s report at the opening session of the 19th CPC National Congress on Oct. 18 heralds a new era for China.

Menon, who is also president of Workers Party of Bangladesh, hoped China’s relations, especially with developing nations, will deepen under Xi’s leadership.

Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, leader of Bangladesh Nationalist Party, said Xi’s thoughts will inspire the entire Chinese nation and help China move further into the international arena.

“We expect more Chinese influence on maintaining global peace, progress and stability,” he added.
