Bangladeshi gov’t OKs draft of Digital Security Act

   DHAKA, Jan. 30 (NsNewsWire) — Bangladesh’s government on Monday approved the draft of Digital Security Act with provisions for stringent punishment to the offenders, reports Xinhua.
The draft was approved at a cabinet meeting with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair, Cabinet Secretary Mohammad Shafiul Alam told reporters.
The proposed law stipulates that anyone spreading negative propaganda against the War of Independence or the Father of the Nation, using digital devices, will risk being sentenced up to 14 year in jail or a fine of up to 5 million taka (60,000 U.S. dollars) or both.
