Bangladesh visa counter in Assam soon
Guwahati, Dec. 21 (NsNewsWire) –After the trial run of the Guwahati-Dhaka bus service, the Bangladesh high commission in India will be setting up a visa felicitation counter at Guwahati in Assam, reports The Asian Age.
Disclosing that the joint delegation of India and Bangladesh, which travelled from Guwahati to Dhaka, has given its clearance for the formal launching of the bus service, authoritative security sources told this newspaper that the delegation in its report has stressed the need of improvement of road condition on some patches between Shillong and Dawki as well as Dawki and Sylhet in Bangladesh. The delegation found that about 30-40 km road leading to Dhaka from Shillong was in a very poor condition, security sources said, adding that the external affairs ministry has already taken up the issue with the surface transport ministry.
Pointing out that an immigration counter is being set up at Dawki, security sources said that the joint delegation has also recommended improvement of custom check stations at Dawki, which has very poor infrastructure to handle the passengers and their luggage.
Sources said that the BSF and the Border Guard of Bangladesh would look after security jointly.
