Bangladesh ruling party leader flown to Singapore for treatment
DHAKA, March 4 (Xinhua) — A last-ditch battle has been mounted to save Bangladeshi ruling party leader Obaidul Quader, also the country’s road transport and bridges minister.
Quader was flown on Monday in a special air ambulance to Singapore where will be taken to the Mount Elizabeth hospital, a top-notch critical care medical center.
Quader, general secretary of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s ruling Bangladesh Awami League party, was hospitalized Sunday morning following breathing problems.
Later he was diagnosed with blockages in three coronary arteries at the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU)
While undergoing treatment at the BSMMU, Quader reportedly suffered heart a attack.
The influential ruling party leader has also been suffering from diabetes and high blood pressure.
BSMMU Director Abdullah Al Harun told journalists that the air ambulance of Mount Elizabeth Hospital left Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport with Quader at 3:50 p.m. local time Monday. Enditem
