Bangladesh placed 2nd in ITEE among 7 Asian countries
DHAKA, Nov. 26 (JICA Press Release) — Bangladesh has placed second among seven Asian countries in its maiden international standardized IT Engineers Examination (ITEE). Bangladeshi IT professionals passing ratio in ITEE is second high next to Vietnamese among six IT Professionals Examination Council (ITPEC) member countries (Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam) which promotes common ITEE in Asian region. “Bangladesh has marked very high passing ratio in the 1st international ITEE in Bangladesh. Number of passers of the 1st ITEE is 25 and its passing ratio 15.8%,” Dr. Sk. Amzad Hossain, Project Director of BD-ITEC said when announcing the authorized result of 1st ITEE in Bangladesh today. This international standardized national ITEE was held in the capital on October 27 with attendance of 158 examinees with a view to give a global recognition to the skills, knowledge and experience of Bangladesh IT professionals. An examination implementation unit, Bangladesh IT-engineers Examination Center (BD-ITEC) of Balgladesh Computer Council (BCC) under Ministry of Information & Communication Technology (MoICT) with support of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has conducted the 1st ITEE in Bangladesh at Curzon Hall, University of Dhaka. On the same day, the ITEE was held in the six ITPEC countries simultaneously on same question paper. The ITEE, presently mutual recognized by 12 Asian countries, is basically a national standardized examination of Japan for IT professionals. ICT Secretary N I Khan, one of the most aggressive promoters for ITEE introduction in the country, said “I am very pleased to know the result. It shows Bangladeshi IT professionals’ excellent competency not only in the country but also to the globe.”
He hoped that the certificate of ITEE will help the local Bangladeshi IT professionals to get international jobs around the globe. BD-ITEC is going to conduct the next IT Engineers Examination on April next year. After holding the two successful examinations, the BCC will apply for membership of ITPEC by June 2014. Information-technology Promotion Agency (IPA) has been conducting ITEE in Japan where five to six lakh IT students and IT professionals attended every year. In Asian region, The ITEE is promoted by IT Professionals Examination Council (ITPEC). In Bangladesh ITEE is introducing by ICT mi istry under a project titled “Capacity Building on ITEE Management” with the help of JICA.
