Bangladesh lifts ban on allrounder Shakib
DHAKA, Dec. 5 (NsNewsWire) — Bangladesh cricket officials have lifted the ban on allrounder Shakib Al Hasan playing in overseas events, paving the way for him to compete in Australia’s Big Bash League in two weeks.
Bangladesh Cricket Board president Nazmul Hassan Papon made the announcement on Thursday, after consent from all board directors, reports AAP.
“Shakib’s embargo to play overseas tournaments is lifted from this moment,” Hassan said. “(The board directors) are satisfied about his behaviour.
“He was not punished for his performance. It was all about his attitude.”
In July, Shakib was suspended for six months and told he wouldn’t receive permission to play in overseas competitions until December 31, 2015.
He was punished for a “severe attitude problem” following altercations with the Bangladesh coach and a fan during a one-dayer against India in Mirpur.
On September 15, the BCB partially lifted the ban and allowed Shakib to play for Bangladesh in the Asian Games, and recent home Test and limited-overs series wins against Zimbabwe.
