Bangladesh Embassy in Rome observed the 98th Birth Anniversary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Children

ROME, March 21 (NsNewsWire) — On 17 March 2018, the Embassy of Bangladesh in Rome celebrated the 98th birth anniversary of the Father of
the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Children's Day 2018 with due festivity through holding a
lively, spontaneous and colourful programme for Bangladeshi expatriate children and their families. Events of the day
started with placing of floral wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. H.E. the Ambassador of
Bangladesh to Italy accompanied by a huge number of children who gathered at the Chancery to celebrate the day
placed the wreath. The children took part in various games and their enthusiastic participation was really enjoyable. The
Embassy also screened a short documentary on the life and work of the Father of the Nation. Young participants were
asked to watch the documentary with complete attention as a quiz competition followed the screening and the questions
of the quiz competition were taken from the documentary. The children thoroughly enjoyed this part as it was an
opportunity for them to know and also to deliver the newly found knowledge. Messages given by the Hon'ble President
and the Hon'ble Prime Minister marking this day were read out by the officers of the Embassy. At this point, H.E. the
Ambassador and the children together cut the celebratory cake amid huge applause. In his speech, H.E. the
Ambassador described to the children the early years of Bangabandhu and his involvement in politics since the school
days. The Ambassador said that Bangladesh would not have become independent without Bangabandhu. He further
mentioned that the Father of the Nation had a dream of building poverty-free Bangladesh and wanted his people to live
in peace and prosperity. His dream is being carried forward by his able daughter, the current Prime Minister H.E. Sheikh
Hasina. He advised all parents to facilitate their children learn the correct history of Bangladesh. After this speech, a
cultural programme took place in which expatriate children recited poems and performed songs & dances. The
mesmerizing performance by the young children enthralled the audience and earned huge applause. All participating
children were awarded prizes. The events of the day were wrapped up by entertaining the guests with traditional
Bangladeshi snacks. The programme, anchored by Ms. Erin Islam, First Secretary, was well-attended by a large number
