Bangladesh clinches 1st-ever ODI series victory against India

DHAKA, June 22 (NsNewsWire) — Debutant Mustafizur Rahman has set a world record to guide Bangladesh to their first ever one-day trophy win over India with an emphatic six-wicket win in Dhaka on Sunday.

Batting first, India were bowled out for 200 runs in 45 overs at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka on Sunday night in the second game of the three-match ODI series against Bangladesh, reports Xinhua.

Rahman, who turned out to be the star performer for Bangladesh with the ball, picking up a fifer in his first international match Thursday, also wrecked Indian batting lineup Sunday. He grabbed six wickets in the match.

The debutant is now the only bowler in the world to have taken 11 wickets in his first two one-day matches, leaving behind Brian Vittori who had taken 10 wickets in his first two matches.

India, 196 runs for 8 in 43.5 overs when rain stopped play, were bowled out for 200 in 45 overs soon after play resumed after two hours’ interruption.

The hosts (Tigers) chased down the target in 38 overs with six wickets in hand.

After rain interrupted the game at the fag end of first session, the ODI was curtailed to 47 overs per side.

With the maiden series triumph over the two-time world champions India, Tigers (Bangladesh team) scribed their name as a new power of the world cricket.

The hosts beat the visitors by 79 runs in the first ODI in Dhaka on Thursday.

In the first game Tigers outsmarted the Team India in all departments and extracted a sweet revenge for their quarterfinal loss at the hands of the India in the World Cup earlier this year.

Bangladesh in April this year clinched a 3-0 whitewash in their ODI Cricket series against Pakistan.
