Azam, Touheed elected World Raymen president, secy general

DHAKA, March 31 (NsNewsWire) — The World Rayman, a consortium for peacekeeping and aid, has elected Safiul Azam FCMA, a cost and management accountants professional, as president (chief rayman) while Touheed Uddin Ahmed, a businessman, has been made the new secretary general of the voluntary organization.

Azam has replaced Maksud Alam Russel, also a chartered accountancy professional.

Prior to becoming WRM president, Azam served the organization in various capacities including secretary general (three times) and president (three times) over the last one decade.

Safiul Azam, a general manager of Popular Pharmaceuticals, and Touheed, proprietor of Faraezee Trade International who earned his master’s degree from Dhaka University, were elected president and secretary general respectively of The World Raymen for the April 2018-March 2019 term.

The new executive committee of the WRM was constituted at Central Public Library following a ceremony to mark the Dhaka-based organisation’s 15th foundation day and the country’s 49th anniversary of Independence on March 26.

During the ceremony, members discussed Raymen activities and its future plans to serve people. Discussion was also held on Bangladesh’s 49th Independence day as the ceremony also aimed at celebrating the foundation day of the country.

Through their discussions the World Raymen (WRM) members paid tribute to the best sons of the soil who sacrificed their lives for emancipation of the country in 1971.

Raymen also reconstituted its advisory council with Dhaka College Teacher Hamidul Islam, former World Raymen president, its chief. The other council members include Supreme Court Advocate Al Mamun, Engineer Forhad Reza, Lutfur Rahman Bhuiyan, an English lecturer at Saudi Arabia’s Jazan University, and Naim-Ul-Karim, a journalist.
