Asia Cup T20: India beat Bangladesh by 45 runs
DHAKA, Feb. 25 (Xinhua) — India Wednesday overcame Bangladesh by 45 runs in the opening match of the Asia Cup, a contest for regional supremacy and a final rehearsal for the World T20, at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in capital Dhaka.
Batting first, India set a target of 167 runs in their allocated 20 overs losing six wickets.
Riding on 83 runs from RG Sharma, Team India set the fighting target in which HH Pandya contributed 31 runs.
Bangladesh captain Mashrafe Mortaza won the toss and elected to bowl first in the opening match of the biennial 12-day tournament.
Al Amin Hossain grabbed three wickets for Bangladesh.
Chasing the target, Bangladesh scored 121 runs for seven wickets.
A Nehra grabbed three wickets to steer their side to the victory over Bangladesh.
The Asia cup, which will end on March 6, features a total of 11 matches to be played by the national teams of 5 nations — Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, reigning champions Sri Lanka and UAE.
It’s being held in Bangladesh for the second time in a row. Enditem
