Argentina wins the Davis Cup title

ZAGREB, Nov. 28 (NsNewsWire) — Argentina beat Croatia 3-2 and won the Davis Cup for the first time in Zagreb on Sunday.

Croatia started in the final day with 2-1 lead, but Marin Cilic failed to beat Juan Martin del Potro of Argentina in a match that lasted four hours 53 minutes, losing the chance to secure the title, reports Xinhua.

Federico Delbonis from the Argentine team then swept past Ivo Karlovic 6-3, 6-4, 6-2 in the decisive fifth game to turn Argentina’s long-time dream into reality.

Argentina had closed in on the title four times in the past, while Croatia won the title in 2005.
