Ambassador of Japan Shiro Sadoshima’s Statement on the Political Confrontation and Recent Violence in Bangladesh
” Echoing the concern expressed by the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Navi Pillay on 1 December 2013, we are also deeply grieved at ever increasing violence in Bangladesh.
Japan, as a long-time friend and important stakeholder of Bangladesh, strongly condemns any kind of violence and destructive activities that seriously affects people’s life and development of Bangladesh. We urge the leaders of all political parties to take all possible measures to end violence. Further, we urge them to engage in constructive dialogues to find a mutually acceptable solution for holding the coming general election in a free, fair, credible, inclusive and peaceful manner for the interests of Bangladesh’s future”
